Geological Survey Canada Bulletin 208 – Zinc/Lead Central Yukon – 1972
This item was part of a file box I found at an estate sale that are related to the Greens Creek Mine in Alaska. The box had a mixture of geological survey books and maps used by Pan Sound Joint Venture in Alaska. They used this material to conduct metal exploration in SE Alaska between 1974 and 1976. These geological studies found high base metal anomalies on Admiralty Island. Claims were staked and today the Greens Creek Mine exists on the island. Hecla Mining Company claims the mine is the largest and lowest-cost primary silver mine in the world. I have several other items for sale from the box. Let me know if you need help finding those. This booklet's details are:Full title is Geology and Origin of The Faro, Vangorda & Swim Concordant Zinc - Lead Deposits, Central Yukon Territories. By D J Tempelman-Kluit - published by Dept of Energy, Mines and Resources Canada. The size is apx 6 1/2" x 9 3/4". It includes two maps of the area in an envelope attached on the back cover. One is map 1261-A of zinc-lead deposits in Central Yukon & the other is Generalized geology of the deposits in the Anvil Range. Take this home today and use it to explore and understand Alaska's minerals. It is a nice piece of history around the discovery of a very large silver mine in Alaska for your collection or as a gift. Plus, you can help me save ephemera from the trash heap.
