An interesting and finely made silver metal card case with twin Chinoiserie panels in gilt depicting pagodas and birds in the Asian style. The matching thin panels to the cover section with stylised character letters around foliage. Connecting chain present so can be worn on a chatelaine. There are no hallmarks that I can see - I have been told it is Japanese, Chinese and American by different people. It is certainly heavy quality but I have no way to tell if solid silver or not. Identical examples online are described as silver. It is lovely with the original gilded areas to the panels which really elevates it. In need of a good polish. Possibly missing part of a thumb piece (see last pic). A really interesting thing. Height (excluding chain): 9cm Weight: 103.5g
