vintage set of eighteen bound volumes of the Bulletins of the US Bureau of Plant Industry - branch of the US Dept. of Agriculture -- set runs consecutively from Bulletin no. 137 to 281 -- covers the years 1909 to 1913 -- -- a great deal of information about Tobacco is included in a number of Bulletins: the one with the 2 tobacco maps is over 90 pages - topics include history, cultivation, curing (50+pgs), lots on cigars, and other related topics -- a couple on wine grape bulletins are included, as is a Bulletin on American Medicinal Barks (50+pgs) -- cotton, mangos, soy beans and numerous other plants are included -- -- there are several color plates throughout and several maps including the ones shown: the wine grape regions of California and two amazing hand-colored Tobacco Region Maps: Western and Eastern -- -- the Eastern tobacco map measures 33 by 41 in. and covers Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas / the Western is 30 by 39 in. and covers mostly Tennessee and Kentucky with some of Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia -- -- books are beautifully bound in quarter leather with marbled boards, page edges and endpapers -- 6 by 9 in. app. 250-350 pages each -- -- vols. generally in very good condition: lightly shaken from use -- some fading to the spine binding -- rub wear on the edges -- index tabs on the different bulletins -- one of the 2 large tobacco district maps has a short rip -- -- **from what information I can gather, this set is exceedingly rare** -- Each week we post a number of interesting items that have been purchased from Oregon Estate Sales-shipping can be recalculated and combined with multiple purchases-please let me do the calculating for combined shipments before paying.
