This carving is of the legendary Greenman. It is a beautifully carved and intricate piece with stunning detail. This magnificent and outstanding reproduction carving belongs to a pair of the mythical creature known as a Blemmyae. It is without doubt the main inspiration for the caricature “Humpty Dumpty” being shown as an Egg-like character.
On the left-hand side as you look at the carving one can see a part of a foot this belongs to the Jester carving, on the right-hand side one can see a horn, this belongs to the carving Man playing Horn.

Both carvings are of a man, one with his eyes open and the other with his eye’s closed. These carvings are small but quite detailed and capture all the fine artistry that went in to making them nearly 500 years ago.
